Celebratory planting at Racehill

Saturday 23rd January was a cold damp and misty day, so we were delighted to have so many people turn up to help plant the last three trees at Racehill Orchard.

By midday, around thirty people were gathered on top of a mist enshrouded Whitehawk Hill.

We started with a tour of the orchard with Neil Smith before getting stuck into the planting.

Two trees later, it was decided hot soup would be a good idea, so we had lunch and some delicious mulled apple juice.

After lunch we planted the last tree.

See photos from the day.

Thank you to everyone who came and helped make this such a special day!

The orchard will need ongoing care and maintenance and, with your help and support, will provide the local community with fruit for many years to come.

If you would like to help out at the orchard or any of our other projects, you can sign up to our volunteer mailing list.

If you've not been to Racehill Orchard, it's always open to explore and enjoy the views. Get details of how to visit.
