After completing my Permaculture design course in 2011, I could see the real benefits of applying this design system to my life.
Using a design structure can get you out of many bad habits!
The most impactful things that have come into my life are crafts in a variety of forms, none of which would have happened without permaculture design. These incorporate spinning sheep fleece, knitting, crochet, and some weaving and natural dying.
I am currently chairman of the West Sussex Weavers Spinners and Dyers. Our philosophy stems from the principles ‘Use and value natural resources‘ and ‘Create no waste‘.
The impact of the clothes industry is massive on our environment. Every time we go through the design process, we can make improvements.
I am also in the early process of working with other natural resources from the garden for weaving and basket making.
My other love is scything, and I have a new vision to incorporate this with my weaving!
If you would like to learn more about permaculture and find out how it could change your life, Brighton Permaculture Trust offers regular Introduction to permaculture courses throughout the year.
I am a tutor on the 19-20 November 2016 course, and I would love to see you there!
