Brighton Permaculture Trust became a registered charity in 2013 to promote sustainable development for the benefit of the public. Becoming a charity strengthened our transparency, gave us access to new funding sources, and allowed us to grow our impact. As a member, you help us stay accountable, inclusive, and community-led.
Why become a member?
If you’ve taken part in our events, courses, or volunteer projects, you’re already part of the community. But by becoming a signed-up member, you can play a more active role in shaping our future.
Members can:
- Vote at our Annual General Meeting
- Elect trustees
- Help us stay democratic and transparent
Your membership adds strength to our voice and helps guide the direction of our work.
What membership involves
Membership is free and open to anyone who supports our values. All we ask is that you agree to a few simple terms:
As a member, you agree to:
- Support the ethics of permaculture: earth care, people care, and fair shares (Learn more from the Permaculture Association)
- Support our aims as a charity
- Treat other members, staff, and volunteers with respect
- Not speak or act on behalf of Brighton Permaculture Trust without permission
- Accept a legal liability of up to £10 should the charity close with debts (valid for up to one year after your membership ends)
- Receive occasional updates and notices by email (we won’t share your email address)
Renewing or Resigning
Membership lasts for one year from the date you join. We’ll invite you to renew when the time comes, but you can resign at any time by contacting us in writing or by email.
