Duncan Baker-Brown
An illustrated presentation that looks at the issues that need to be addressed by design, aiming towards sustainability in the built environment.

Speaker: Duncan Baker-Brown is a Chartered Architect and Senior Lecturer at the University of Brighton. The Practice he cofounded in 1994, Baker-Brown McKay, pursues an ethos of environmentally benign architecture.

An illustrated case study of the planned low toxic, energy efficient clinic which is to be built with materials from local, sustainable sources.

Brighton Earthship

Frances Hunt and Taus Larsen
This illustrated talk looks at the first earthship to be built in Europe. These innovative structures are largely constructed from recycled materials, including car tyres.

Speakers: Frances Hunt is a partner in Clifton Design Associates Chartered Architects and specialising green developments, housing and community development.  Taus Larsen is 4th year architecture student studying at the University of East London. He has visited Taos, New Mexico where he spent time building with an earthship construction team.

Laughton Lodge co-housing

Melanie Nock
Following a short presentation, Melanie will respond to questions about the practicalities of living in and developing a co-housing community.
