Friday 31st July – Woollards Field Orchard, Moulsecoomb 10.30am – 1.30pm.
This is one of our less accessible sites so has a tendency to get overgrown with brambles, so we need to do some serious bramble bashing/path clearing. Jobs will involve using shears and loppers to maintain access to the trees. As well as the clearance we will be repairing a fence and setting a new pedestrian gate so anybody with relevant woodworking experience would be very much appreciated.
Woollards Field orchard boasts 11 apple trees each of a different Sussex heritage variety. The site sits next to the children’s playground and patch of land known locally as Maggie’s Corner; adjacent also is a small copse of native woodland trees planted as part of The Keep development. The area is much loved by the local community which plans to continue to improve the site to be as inclusive a space as possible.

Practical stuff
Please bring:
• Food and drink to sustain you for the session (packed lunch, snacks, flasks, water etc).
• Dress appropriately for weather conditions (the site is very open with little shade) and habitat (brambles, nettles, thistles, other well-armed weeds)
• Sturdy footwear
• Gardening gloves
Please note there are no public toilets on site.
Please note that for all the activities all children under the age of 18 and people with support needs must be accompanied by a parent/carer who is responsible for their supervision, safety and any medication needed.
