Brighton Permaculture Trust helped Brighton Aldridge Community Academy plant an Alumni Orchard this December.
The Brighton Aldridge Community Academy (BACA) planted eight trees during their alumni event on 4 December 2013, with each tree dedicated to a previous pupil.
Brighton Permaculture Trust helped current BACA students to prepare the ground for planting, while other students took part in apple juicing and baking with Brighton & Hove Food Partnership to prepare an “apple feast” for everyone to share.
Viv Ayward, representing Westlain, helped plant the trees, saying:
“It was wonderful to be there and part of the tree planting…. I can’t wait to bite into that first apple in three years time!!”
The trees were planted in partnership with Brighton & Hove Food Partnership and partially funded by our Orchards Without Borders project and by the South Downs National Park. For photos and more information about the event, visit BACA’s blog.
