Tuesday 1st July - Stanmer orchards, Stanmer 11am - 3pm
Join Nick Casey in one of our Stanmer orchards where we will be doing some weeding, scything (experienced scythers only) and mulching as part of the regular upkeep. We will be meeting first at The Fruit Factory before moving to the orchard. If you aren't able to be there at 11am please text Nick to check which orchard he'll be working in.
Please read for your safety - please be aware that our orchards are wild and wonderful places with many wild and wonderful plants and creatures. Nettles, ankle shredding brambles, rabbit holes and all the usual country hazards need attention too.
Please also read this article about the photo toxic plants we may have on site:

Please bring light clothing to cover arms and legs on sunny days as some plants on site can cause skin irritation in sunlight.
Your host
When you register you will receive an email which will give you his contact phone number in case you need to call him on the day
Practical stuff
- Food and drink to sustain you for the session (snacks, flasks, water etc).
- Gardening gloves if you have them
- Sturdy footwear (no sandals) -
Clothing suitable for nettles, brambles, sun and rain. (Long trousers and sleeves are recommended unless you don’t care about stings and scratches; hardy types that chose to wear shorts should at least wear ankle length socks.)
Dress appropriately for weather conditions and messy work.
There are public toilets in the village and at One Garden nearby (please do not urinate in the orchards) and compost toilets if we are working near the earthship.
There is a cafe in the village if you want to buy food/drinks.
Please note that for all the activities all children under the age of 18 and people with support needs must be accompanied by a parent/carer who is responsible for their supervision, safety and any medication needed.
