Wednesday 29th May - Eridge, Lewes 10.00am - 12.00pm
The Landport Estate is tucked on the borders of the South Downs and offers brilliant locations for planting community orchards to provide habitat havens for wildlife and people alike. Local residentswith the support of the Landport Community Hub have planted 25 fruit trees at 4 sites across the area. Now come and learn from our expert team how to care for the trees to help them thrive for decades to come.
This project is being delivered in partnership with Lewes & Eastbourne council.
Tasks for the sessions include:
clearing weeds from around tree bases to help them thrive; mulching with woodchip to lock in moisture and keep competitive vegetation at bay; checking tree health & looking out for pests and diseases; emergency pruning of diseased, damaged, or dead branches; checking supports, protection and ties to help trees grow straight & strong; litter picking.
