Kirsty Sloman

Kirsty Sloman

Volunteer leader, Racehill Community Orchard

Kirsty has been involved with the Racehill Community Orchard for nearly five years, firstly as a volunteer where she would help Neil Smith and learn from him. Now she is a volunteer session leader and general all round Orchard groover having taken over Neil’s honorous role when he became too ill in Feb 2016. Since then, she has been jiving her way through a number of important Permaculture courses and all to help her create the magic that is Racehill today and continue her predecessor’s amazing legacy.

When she is not grafting away on the Orchard and weaving magic (or bramble bashing more than likely), Kirsty is out on Sheepcote Valley being a cozmic sheep-botherer. She is also an illustrator and artist, having catalogued and drawn a vast array of wild flowers that are to be found at Racehill. She also volunteers for Friends of Hollingbury and Burstead Woods and the City Parks Rangers. And to top it all, she is a long serving member of White Crane Martial Arts kung fu club where she is part of the White Crane Chinese Lion Dance Team. She lives with her partner, Monty, who plays keyboards for the Damned. Kirsty loves amongst many different things; nature, drinking mead, Wassails and Apple Day and a Solstice fire.
