About Maria
I completed the Permaculture Certificate in 2012 and it was a life-changing experience. That feeling of learning permaculture with like-minded people and having a real sense of community has stayed with me ever since. I loved learning new skills and principles that I could apply to everything I do in my life to live more sustainably and make a difference.
After volunteering with Brighton Permaculture in many projects, I became a trustee at the end of 2019. My role as a trustee, together with three other lovely people, is to have an strategic oversight of the running of the organisation, and it’s a task that I have a privilege to share with three other brilliant trustees. It has been a real learning journey for me but I have also been able to contribute using my skills in media, digital issues and learning and development. In 2020 I played an important role helping the organisation to continue providing courses online and in a blended fashion whilst we were in lockdown. I look forward to working with Brighton Permaculture for many more years, to bring about change in Brighton and Hove and make a difference to the local community.
