SEPTEMBER 2020
Donate your fruit
If you or your neighbours have spare apples or pears from your garden we can use them! Our scrumping project makes juices, vinegar & cider from local fruit.
Please bring your fruit to us at the Fruit Factory in Stanmer Park on Sundays, 1pm-3pm. Get directions to the Fruit Factory
We plan to be juicing every week until the end of November. (However, in exceptional circumstances or poor weather, there is a chance we might not be there. If we can’t be there we will post on our social media pages)
All fruit should be clean and in good condition or we can’t use it. Windfall fruit (fruit from the ground) needs to be kept separate from fruit that you pick from a tree. Windfalls can’t be used for juice but are great for cider/vinegar.
For every 15kg of fruit you bring we will give you a litre of freshly pressed juice. Please note: the juice that we give you probably will not contain the juice from your own fruit as our press takes around 70kg of fruit at a time.
Apple pressing
If you have more than 50kg of fruit and would like us to press it for you, we charge 62p per litre of juice. Please contact us to book in this service via the Make an Enquiry button at the bottom of this page.
Scrumping
If you are not able to harvest your fruit yourself and you don’t want it to go to waste then we might be able to come and scrump it for our project.
Please get in touch via the Make an Enquiry button below with as much of the following information as you can give us:
- Any idea of the type of apple?
- How many trees?
- How big are the trees/would we need ladders?
- Address or location?
- What is parking like where you are?
- Is access to the trees easy (back garden, gates etc)?
- Do you need to be home when we come?
- Please supply a contact phone number.
Whether we can help depends on volunteer availability, whether we are in the area and site accessibility: there is no set amount of fruit where it is worth us picking. Get in touch and we will stop your fruit going to waste if we can.
