Extinction Rebellion Brighton has launched a petition asking the City Council for sufficient time to carefully consider the future of Hollingbury and Waterhall golf courses, which are on the market for re-letting.
This would give organisations such as the Brighton Downs Alliance time to put together plans and demonstrate public support for community-led Downs ecosystem restoration and food production – possibly a rewilding project – with statutory public access.
Through the Brighton & Hove Food Partnership, which is a member of the Alliance, Brighton Permaculture Trust is keeping in touch with opportunities for edible edges on the periphery of any rewilding (or other) project, such as orchards and low maintenance edible trees/shrubs.
