Tuesday 15th October - Coldean orchard sites 10.30am - 12.30pm
Watering and providing aftercare support to fruit and nut trees planted over recent winters. Join with local volunteers to help support their community orchards.
We will be doing some general orchard care, tasks for the sessions include: watering trees with long hoses and barrowing water for some of them; clearing weeds from around tree bases to help them thrive; mulching with woodchip to lock in moisture and keep competitive vegetation at bay; checking tree health & looking out for pests and diseases; emergency pruning of diseased, damaged, or dead branches; checking supports, protection and ties to help trees grow straight & strong; litter picking.
If you are unable to attend for the full day you can just turn up and help at whatever time suits you - just an hour of your time will make a difference.
