Over the last 4 weeks over 50 people have come together to support our scrumping project and FareShare, raising enough to donate a huge 853 bottles of juice to people in need.
The Brighton Permaculture Team, especially the scrumping team, have been uplifted by the response from everyone who has contributed by donating and helping us make some noise about our FareShare Appeal.
‘I used to volunteer at FareShare and have seen firsthand the vital role they play in feeding our community. Thank you for all your work!’ – a comment from one of our wonderful supporters.
FareShare Sussex donate surplus food to 140 community groups and charitable organisations across Sussex and Surrey and they’ve seen demand increase by over 50% since the pandemic started.
Thanks to everyone who has donated, over 723 bottles of locally produced juice, made from fruit that would otherwise be wasted, has already gone directly to those in need – delivered by local organisations working with their local communities.
The appeal isn’t over yet though! We have 0 bottles left to be donated. (updated 24 June) Any extra we recieve will go toward donating more juice when it’s pressed in the Autumn.
For each £10 we receive we will be able to donate 6 bottles of locally produced apple juice to FareShare.
We don’t make a profit from this, the money will go toward funding our scrumping project, so we can save more fruit from being wasted, making it into delicious juice and cider.
